Cryptosporidium sps. is now recognized as an important intestinal pathogen in patients with HIV infection. Routine parasitological techniques fail to demonstrate this protozoa. Modified Acid Fast staining techniques prove effective in staining this organism. Cryptosporidium Control Slides have many typical organisms on each slide. Each package contains 10 slides, each having a positive and negative well.

For staining these slides SDL’s new product AcriFluor or other fluorescent techniques or Crypto Kinyoun Mini & Standard Stain Sets (Cat No. 371 & 373) are available. Each Mini-Stain Set contains two 15ml leakproof dropping bottles with Stain and Counterstain and 30ml of Decolorizer. The Standard Stain Set contains three 60ml bottles. Instructions for staining are included in package insert. SDL's Crypto Kinyoun Modified Acid Fast Stain Set (Cat. No. 379) contains a 250ml bottle of each of the necessary reagents.

The Microsporidium Family Stain Control Slides bring the morphology differences of the whole family to your laboratory on one slide. Each slide contains a sample of Encephalitozoon hellum, Enterocytozoon bieneusi, Nosema corneum and Septata intestinalis. In the package of ten (10) slides, one slide is stained with Modified Trichrome Stain and the balance of unstained slides can be used as controls. Each well is printed with the corresponding name of the organism.
